Alyson McLayne is an accomplished author, known for her work in contemporary, historical, and paranormal romance. After earning her degree in theater at the University of Alberta, McLayne moved to the west coast of Canada where she worked in film for several years. It was during this time that she met her husband, who worked as a prop master.
McLayne has been recognized for her writing with several nominations from the Romance Writers of America, including for The Golden Heart, The Golden Pen, The Orange Rose, Great Expectations, The Molly’s, and The Winter Rose. Her debut historical romance, Highland Promise, is the first of five books in The Sons of Gregor MacLeod series and was published by Sourcebooks in October 2017. The series continued with Highland Conquest, which was released in February 2018.
In addition to her work as an author, McLayne is also a mother to twin nine-year-olds and a chocolate lab named Jasper. Soon, the family will also include a pair of kittens named Shadow and Topaz. When she’s not writing, McLayne enjoys spending time with her family, drinking coffee, listening to podcasts, and watching Harry Potter. She is also an avid fan of dark chocolate, which she keeps in her cupboard as a special treat for late-night writing sessions.
