Michael Harvey

Michael Harvey is a renowned author of crime fiction, suspense, and thriller novels. He is best known for his Michael Kelly series and has written several other books including "The Innocence Game," "Chicago Way," "The Third Rail," "We All Fall Down," "The Governor's Wife," and "Brighton." Harvey's writing is heavily influenced by his background as an investigative reporter, documentary producer, and co-creator, producer, and executive producer of A&E's forensic series, "Cold Case Files."

Born in Boston, Harvey attended Boston Latin School before going on to earn his bachelor's degree in classical languages from Holy Cross College, magna cum laude with honors. He then earned his law degree with honors from Duke University and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. In addition to his work as an author, Harvey is an adjunct professor at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism.

Harvey's investigative journalism and documentary work have earned him multiple news Emmys and CableACE awards, numerous national and international film festival awards, a CINE Golden Eagle, two Prime-Time Emmy nominations, and an Academy Award nomination. He was also selected by the Chicago Tribune as Chicagoan of the Year in Literature for 2011.

In addition to his writing and teaching, Harvey is also the owner of The Hidden Shamrock, a pub in Chicago where he can often be found enjoying a pint of Guinness. He currently resides in Chicago with his wife, Mary Frances, and their dog, Maggie.
