Todd Moss

Todd Moss is an accomplished American author, known for his international thrillers that draw from his real-world experiences in diplomacy and international politics. Moss served as the top American diplomat in West Africa and held positions at the U.S. Department of State, where he gained extensive knowledge of modern-day diplomacy and international relations.

In his writing, Moss combines his first-hand experiences with impressive storytelling abilities to produce fast-paced, action-packed novels. His debut novel, The Golden Hour, was inspired by the 2008 coup d’etat in Mauritania and tells the story of an army takeover in Mali. Coincidentally, the real President of Mali was overthrown in a coup just weeks after Moss completed the first draft of his novel. The sequel, Minute Zero, focuses on an election in Zimbabwe that goes awry. Moss has also written several non-fiction books on African development and economics.

In addition to his work as an author, Moss currently serves as Senior Fellow and Chief Operating Officer at the Center for Global Development, a think-tank in Washington DC. He holds a PhD from SOAS and a BA from Tufts University. Moss is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and has taught at the London School of Economics (LSE) and at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He is also affiliated with Rice University's Baker Institute and the Payne Institute at the Colorado School of Mines.
