Ævraham Gabriel "Boolie" Yehoshua was born in Jerusalem to a family of Sephardi origin, with roots in Salonika, Greece. His father, Yaakov Yehoshua, was an author and scholar specializing in the history of Jerusalem, while his mother, Malka Rosillio, was born in Mogador, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel in 1932. Growing up in Jerusalem's Kerem Avraham neighborhood, Yehoshua experienced a rich cultural heritage that would later influence his writing.
Abraham B. Yehoshua is considered one of Israel's most prominent authors, with a literary career spanning several decades. His works include notable novels such as "A Journey to the End of the Millenium," "The Liberated Bride," and "A Woman in Jerusalem," which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in 2007. Yehoshua's writing combines historical and cultural elements of Israel with a unique narrative style that has garnered international acclaim. He currently resides in Haifa.
