A.D. Garrett

A.D. Garrett is a pseudonym for Margaret Murphy, an award-winning author who has published numerous psychological thrillers and crime novels. Working in consultation with policing and forensics expert, Helen Pepper, Murphy has produced a series of internationally recognized thrillers under the name A.D. Garrett.

Margaret Murphy has received critical acclaim for her writing, having won the CWA Short Story Dagger and being shortlisted for several other awards. She has published nine psychological thrillers under her own name, as well as a forensic series under the name A.D. Garrett. Her forensic series, which features Professor Nick Fennimore and DCI Kate Simms, has been praised by renowned authors such as Ann Cleeves and Jeffery Deaver.

In addition to her work as a novelist, Murphy is a Writing Fellow and Reading Round Lector for the Royal Literary Fund, a past Chair of the Crime Writers Association (CWA), and founder of Murder Squad. She has also served as a judge for the CWA's Non-Fiction Dagger award and is a forensic consultant for the Vera and Shetland TV series.

Helen Pepper, who consults with Murphy on the A.D. Garrett novels, is a Senior Lecturer in Policing at Teesside University in the UK. She has extensive experience in the investigation of various types of crimes, from thefts to murders and terrorism. In addition to her work as a forensics expert, Pepper is also an author and has contributed to professional policing texts.
