A.J. Cross

A.J. Cross is a forensic psychologist who has gained popularity as the author of the "Dr. Kate Hanson" series of novels. She is frequently appointed as an expert witness in courts in the United Kingdom, using her professional expertise to provide opinions on various adult offender behaviors.

Cross obtained her Masters Degree and PhD at the University of Birmingham, where her studies focused on children as witnesses within the criminal court system. Her professional experience includes consultancy work for the Probation Service within its sexual offender unit in her home city. In addition to her work as a forensic psychologist and author, Cross is also a musician's wife and resides in the West Midlands.

As an author, Cross has written a total of seven novels, all of which focus on plot intricacy, character analysis, and the "Why?" of the crimes. She began her writing career with "Gone in Seconds," which was published in 2012 and well-received. A second novel, "Art of Deception," followed, and she has since written five more novels. Cross's main character in her early novels is Dr. Kate Hanson, a forensic psychologist, while later books feature Dr. Will Traynor, a criminologist. Both characters are determined seekers of truth and justice.

Cross's novels are set in and around Birmingham, her home city. While Birmingham may not have sea-swept coastlines or mind-blowing mountain peaks, it is blessed with trees, parks, elegant architecture, and newer development. Cross highlights the hardworking and generous people of Birmingham, who have a streak of humor a mile wide. Her novels invite readers to join Dr. Hanson and later Dr. Traynor, along with their colleagues, DCI Bernard Watts and PC Chloe Judd, in their pursuit of truth and justice.
