A.J. Tata

A.J. Tata, also known as Anthony J. Tata and Tony Tata, is a well-known American author specializing in the genres of action, thriller, and military fiction. He is best known for his successful novel series, the Threat series and the Captain Jake Mahegan series. Before starting his career as a writer, Tata served 28 years in the US Army and rose to the rank of Brigadier General. His military experience is strongly reflected in his writing, with many of his novels focusing on the lives of military personnel. \n \nTata's Threat series, which he began in 2008, follows the lives of two fictional brothers, Zachary and Matt Garrett, who serve in the military. The series was very successful, with Tata donating $27,000 of the earnings from the first book, Sudden Threat, to a Wounded Warriors foundation. Tata's writing style has also been recognized by Publisher's Weekly, which selected his book Besieged as one of the Best Books of the Year in 2017 and nominated Foreign and Domestic for the Best Thriller Barry Award in 2016. \n \nIn addition to his writing career, Tata has also had a successful career in public service. After his military service, he served as the Secretary of Transportation in North Carolina from 2013 to 2015. Tata has also appeared as a commentator on various news shows, including FoxNews' Hannity Show, The Story with Martha MacCallum, America's Newsroom, Fox and Friends Weekday and Weekend Editions, The Five, CNN's New Day and Brooke Baldwin Shows, and NBC's Today Show with Jane Pauley. \n \nTata is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and has obtained several advanced degrees, including a M.A. in International Relations from the Catholic University of America and a Master of Military Art and Science from the Army's School of Advanced Military Studies. He is also a National Security Fellow at Harvard University's JFK School of Government. Tata has received numerous awards and honors for his military service, including the Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star, and Master Parachutist. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army's Ranger School and is listed as a distinguished member of the 502nd, 504th, and 505th Parachute Infantry Regiments. \n \nTata is also a generous supporter of veteran projects, having donated over $30,000 in book royalties to the USO Metro DC Hospital Services fund for wounded warriors at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda National Naval Medical Center. He is also the Chairman of the Board of the North Carolina Heroes Fund, a member of the Board of Directors of the US Military Veterans Foundation, and a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Military Order of the Purple Heart. Tata retired in 2009 with the rank of Brigadier General, but his continued public service and dedication to veteran projects show his ongoing commitment to his country.
