Adam Gidwitz is an American author, best known for his fictional children's books. He was born on February 14, 1982, in San Francisco, California. Gidwitz grew up attending a school with minimal rules, which he managed to break regardless. His interest in English literature led him to study it in college, where he developed a deep appreciation for the profound truths found in fiction.
After college, Gidwitz began his career as a grade school teacher in New York. It was during his time as a teacher that a literary agent, who was also a parent of one of his students, noticed his talent for storytelling. She recognized his potential as a writer and encouraged him to pursue a career in writing. This serendipitous encounter marked the beginning of Gidwitz's journey as an author.
Gidwitz is perhaps best known for his children's book series, the Grimm series, published by Dutton Penguin. His book, "The Inquisitor's Tale," won him a Newbery Honor award. Currently, he is the author of the Newbery Honor winning "THE INQUISITOR'S TALE," the best-seller "A TALE DARK AND GRIMM" and its companions, and the new series "THE UNICORN RESCUE SOCIETY." He also has a forthcoming podcast from Pinna called "GRIMM, GRIMMER, GRIMMEST." Gidwitz currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife and daughter, where he spends his time writing and contemplating the ceiling.
