Adrian McKinty is an acclaimed Irish author, best known for his crime fiction and young adult novels. He has written a number of successful series, including the Michael Forsythe series, the Lighthouse Trilogy YA series, and the Sean Duffy series. McKinty was born in Northern Ireland and grew up in Carrickfergus. He pursued his higher education in law at the University of Warwick and later studied politics and philosophy at the University of Oxford.
Before becoming a novelist, McKinty worked a variety of jobs, including teaching high school English in Denver, Colorado. He has also written for numerous publications, including The Washington Post, The Times, The Guardian, The Independent, and Harpers Magazine. In 2014, McKinty's novel "In The Morning I'll Be Gone" won the prestigious Ned Kelly Award. He currently resides in Melbourne, Australia with his wife and two children.

In 2019, McKinty announced that he was giving up writing, but he had a global hit with his standalone novel "The Chain" later that same year. McKinty's books have won numerous awards, including the Edgar Award, the Ned Kelly Award (three times), The Anthony Award, Barry Award, Macavity Award, and the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award. His books have been translated into over 40 languages.
