Agustina Bazterrica

Agustina Bazterrica is an Argentinian author, born in Buenos Aires in 1974. She has a degree in Arts from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and has established herself as a prominent figure in the literary world, particularly known for her debut novel "Tender is the Flesh." Bazterrica's exceptional storytelling skills have earned her numerous accolades, including the First Municipal Prize of the City of Buenos Aires Unpublished Story 2004/5, the First Prize in the XXXVIII Latin American Short Story Contest "Edmundo Valadés" in 2009, the Clarín Novel Prize in 2017, and the Ladys of Horror Fiction Award in 2021 (USA).

In addition to her success as a novelist, Bazterrica has written short stories and poetry that have been published in various anthologies, revistas, and newspapers. She has also contributed to different media outlets by writing reviews and articles. Her literary prowess extends to coordinating the Ciclo de Arte Siga al Conejo Blanco and co-coordinating the Follow the White Rabbit Art Cycle with Pamela Terlizzi Prina from 2015 to 2020. Bazterrica has been a jury member of various literary contests, including the National Fund for the Arts Award in 2021 and the 12th Itaú Digital Short Story Award in 2022.

Bazterrica's published works include the novel "Matar a la niña" (Textos intrusos) in 2013, the short story collection "Antes del encuentro feroz" (Alción Editora) in 2016, and the critically acclaimed novel "Cádaver exquisito" (Tender is the flesh) in 2017, which has been published in over 20 languages and has a television series in the works. In 2020, Alfaguara published a compilation of her stories under the title "Nineteen claws and a black bird." She has also recently completed a new novel, set to be published soon. Bazterrica is also an active cultural curator and workshop coordinator, further solidifying her status as a respected and accomplished author in the literary world.
