Aimee Nezhukumatathil

Aimee Nezhukumatathil is a highly acclaimed author, born in Chicago, Illinois, to a father from South India and a Filipina mother. She is known for her work in creative nonfiction and poetry, having earned her MFA in those fields from The Ohio State University. Nezhukumatathil's writing has been widely recognized and appreciated, earning her the Diane Middlebrook Poetry Fellowship at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing at UW-Madison.

Nezhukumatathil is the author of several books, including the illustrated essay collection "Bite by Bite: Nourishments and Jamborees" and the New York Times bestselling illustrated nature essay collection "World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments." She has also published four award-winning collections of poetry, including "Oceanic," "Lucky Fish," "At the Drive-In Volcano," and "Miracle Fruit." Nezhukumatathil's writing has been featured in several prestigious publications, including two editions of The Best American Poetry, Poetry Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, ESPN, and The Paris Review.

Nezhukumatathil's work has been honored with numerous awards and fellowships, including a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment of the Arts, Mississippi Arts Council, and the Pushcart Prize. She currently serves as a Professor of English in the MFA program at the University of Mississippi and is the poetry editor for the Sierra Club's SIERRA Magazine. Her writing combines her love for nature and her experiences growing up as a child of immigrants, creating a unique and captivating voice.
