Alan Stuart "Al" Franken is a well-known figure in American comedy and politics. He was born in New York and gained fame as a writer and performer for the popular television program Saturday Night Live. Franken's work on the show earned him several Emmy Awards and established him as a prominent figure in American comedy.
After leaving Saturday Night Live, Franken turned his attention to political commentary. He wrote a number of bestselling books, including "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" and "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right." Franken also hosted a nationally-syndicated radio show on Air America Radio.
In addition to his work as a comedian and political commentator, Franken has also had a successful career in politics. He was elected to the United States Senate in 2008, representing the state of Minnesota. Franken narrowly defeated Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in the election and was reelected to a second term in 2014.
Franken is married to Franni and they have two children and three grandchildren. He is a graduate of Harvard College and received his doctorate in right-wing megalomania studies from Trump University. Franken is known for his progressive political views and his sharp wit, and he continues to be a prominent and influential figure in American politics and media.
