Alastair Reynolds

Alastair Reynolds is a renowned British author, celebrated for his contribution to the science fiction genre. Born in 1966 in Wales, he later pursued academics and earned a Ph.D. in astronomy. His scientific background significantly influences his writing, particularly in his well-known Revelation Space series.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Reynolds worked as an astrophysicist for the European Space Agency. However, his passion for storytelling led him to begin publishing short stories in the British SF magazine, Interzone, during the early 1990s. Eventually, he transitioned to writing novels, producing around one per year while also contributing short stories to various anthologies.

Reynolds is known for his diverse range of works, not limited to the Revelation Space universe. He believes in keeping his work fresh and exciting, which is evident in the variety of themes and settings explored in his books and stories. Despite his busy writing schedule, he finds time for hobbies such as running, hill-walking, birdwatching, horseriding, playing guitar, and model-making. He currently resides in Wales with his wife.
