Aleksandar Hemon is a critically acclaimed author, known for his works in English literature. He was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he graduated from the University of Sarajevo with a degree in literature in 1990. In 1992, Hemon moved to Chicago, Illinois, after finding himself unable to return home due to the siege of Sarajevo. Initially, he struggled with writing in English, as he spoke little of the language at the time. However, by 1995, Hemon had begun writing in English and was quickly able to showcase his work in prestigious magazines such as the New Yorker and Esquire.
Hemon's work has received numerous accolades, including being named a finalist for the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. His books, which include "The Lazarus Project," "The Question of Bruno," "Nowhere Man," and "Love and Obstacles," have been praised for their unique perspective and compelling storytelling. In addition to his writing, Hemon has also been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2003 and a "Genius Grant" from the MacArthur Foundation in 2004. He currently resides in Chicago with his wife and daughter.
