Alison Croggon is a highly acclaimed author, well-known for her young adult fantasy novels. She is best known for her series, "The Books of Pellinor," which has gained a significant following and won numerous awards. In addition to "The Books of Pellinor," Croggon has also written the Newport series and several standalone novels, as well as collections of poetry.
Croggon's writing has received much critical acclaim, with "The Bone Queen," published in 2016, being a finalist for Best Young Adult Book at the Aurealis Awards. "The River and the Book" won the Environmental Writing for Children prize by the Wilderness Society, and "Black Spring" was shortlisted for the Young People’s Writing Award at the NSW Premier Literary Awards. Croggon's work is not limited to fiction, as she is also a prize-winning poet and theatre critic. She has released seven collections of poems and has won several awards, including the Geraldine Pascall Critic of the Year in 2009.
In addition to her work as a novelist and poet, Croggon also writes opera libretti. She co-wrote an opera Libretti alongside Iain Grandage, which won the Choral/Vocal Work of the Year in 2015. Her libretto for Mayakovsky, score by Michael Smetanin, was shortlisted in the Drama Prize for the 2015 Victorian Premier's Literary Awards.
