Amy Chua

Amy Chua, born on October 26, 1962, in Champaign, Illinois, is a distinguished professor at Yale Law School and a bestselling author. She is the daughter of ethnic Chinese-Filipino parents who emigrated from the Philippines, and she grew up speaking Hokkien.

Chua is known for her compelling and thought-provoking books on a range of topics, including politics, culture, and society. Her debut novel, THE GOLDEN GATE, is set to be released on September 19, 2023. In addition to her fiction work, Chua has written several nonfiction books, including "World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability" (2003), "Day of Empire: How Hyperpowers Rise to Global Dominance – and Why They Fall" (2007), "The Triple Package: How Three Unlikely Traits Explain the Rise and Fall of Cultural Groups in America" (2013), and "Political Tribes: Group Instinct and the Fate of Nations" (2018).

One of her most notable works is the memoir "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" (2011), which was a runaway international bestseller, translated into over 30 languages. The book is a candid and insightful look into the author's experiences raising her children in a traditional Chinese way, and the cultural clashes that arose as a result. Chua's work is known for its depth, research and ability to spark conversations about culture, society and politics.
