Amy McCulloch is a highly accomplished Chinese-White author, born in the UK and raised in Ottawa, Canada. She is currently based in London, UK, and has written several novels for children and young adults that have been published in over fifteen different languages. Her debut adult novel, Breathless, was released in 2022 and quickly became an international bestseller.
Before becoming a full-time writer, McCulloch worked in the publishing industry as editorial director for Penguin Random House Children's Books. In 2013, she was named one of The Bookseller's Rising Stars of publishing. When she's not writing, McCulloch loves traveling, hiking, and mountaineering. In September 2019, she became the youngest Canadian woman to climb Mt. Manaslu in Nepal, the world's eighth highest mountain at 8,163m (26,781ft).
In addition to her climbing achievements, McCulloch has also summited the highest mountain in the Americas, Aconcagua, in -45C and 90kmph winds. She has visited all seven continents, drawing inspiration for her writing from her many adventures. Currently, she is working on her next adult thriller, continuing to seek out new experiences and use them to inform her work. McCulloch is also known for her love of coffee, ramen, and really great books.
