Amy Pershing is a mystery author who spent her childhood summers on Cape Cod, an experience that has greatly influenced her writing. She grew up in a large family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and enjoyed many adventures during her summers on the Cape, including swimming, clamming, sailing, and eating. These experiences have inspired the setting and atmosphere of her Cape Cod Foodie mystery series.
Pershing is a lifelong mystery lover and wordsmith who has had a varied career in editing, journalism, and corporate communications. She has worked as an assistant editor at Viking Penguin, a restaurant reviewer for Playbill magazine’s Restaurant Reporter, and a journalist at the Rome (Italy) Daily American. She also spent many years leading employee communications at a global bank before deciding to pursue her passion for writing full-time.
The first book in the Cape Cod Foodie mystery series is "A Side of Murder," which introduces the main character, Samantha Barnes. Sam is a disgraced ex-chef and the world’s most reluctant YouTube star who becomes the local paper's "Cape Cod Foodie." She tries to balance her new job with her complicated love life, a posse of quirky friends, a falling-down house, and a large puppy, all while discovering a talent for falling over dead bodies and solving crimes. The series has been well-received, with "A SIDE OF MURDER" being called "the freshest, funniest mystery I have ever read" by Elizabeth Gilbert and "AN EGGNOG TO DIE FOR" receiving a starred review from Kirkus Reviews. The third book in the series, "MURDER IS NO PICNIC," will be published in the summer of 2022.
