Andrés N. Ordorica

Andrés N. Ordorica is a queer Latinx writer whose work explores themes of diaspora, identity, and the immigrant experience. Based in Edinburgh, he is the author of the poetry collections "At Least This I Know" and "Holy Boys," as well as the novel "How We Named The Stars." His writing has garnered critical acclaim, earning him a place on The Observer’s 2024 list of 10 Best Debut Novelists and shortlist placements for prestigious awards, including the Kavya Prize, Morley Lit Prize, and the Saltire Society’s Poetry Book of The Year.

Drawing from his family’s immigrant history and his own third-culture upbringing, Ordorica’s writing delves into the complexities of belonging and the liminal space between cultures—captured in the phrase "ni de aquí, ni de allá" (neither here, nor there). His work blends lyrical prose with poignant storytelling, offering a voice to marginalized narratives. As both a poet and novelist, he bridges genres to examine themes of love, loss, and resilience.

Ordorica’s contributions extend beyond his published works; he is also an educator dedicated to fostering literary talent. His recognition in competitions such as the Mo Siewcharran Prize and the Morley Prize for Unpublished Writers of Colour underscores his impact on contemporary literature. With a distinctive voice and a commitment to authenticity, he continues to shape conversations around identity and displacement in his writing.
