The chronology of Andrew Grant's books is noteworthy, with "The Enemy" being the first book to read, taking place during Reacher's military career. "The Secret" and "Night School" follow, and then "The Affair," which covers the end of Reacher's military career and leads into "Killing Floor." The short stories "Second Son" and "High Heat" feature Reacher at the ages of 13 and 16, respectively. The remaining books should be read in the order they were published, with "Persuader" having flashbacks to Reacher's military career, and "The Secret" taking place in 1992.
