Andrew Kaplan

Andrew Kaplan is an acclaimed American author, well-known for his spy thriller novels. He has published around eight international bestselling novels that have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been translated into twenty-two foreign languages. Kaplan's writing career began in 1980 with the release of his first book, 'Hour of the Assassins.' He has since published two successful book series, SCORPION and HOMELAND, as well as three standalone novels, DRAGONFIRE, HOUR OF THE ASSASSINS, and WAR OF THE RAVEN.

Before becoming an author, Kaplan worked as a freelance journalist and war correspondent for the International Herald Tribune in Paris. He has covered events around the world and served in both the U.S. and Israeli armies. Kaplan's experiences as a war correspondent and his military service have significantly influenced his writing, providing him with a unique perspective on the world of espionage and intrigue.

Kaplan was born on May 18, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his schooling at Stuyvesant High School and then attended Brooklyn College. After graduating, he joined the United States Army for a short period before moving to Africa and Europe, where he worked as a war correspondent and freelance journalist. During the Six Day War in 1967, Kaplan worked for the Israeli Army and was involved in student activities in Israel, serving as a student leader. He played a significant role in starting the Ben Gurion Negev University, initially called the University of Negev, and helped establish the Israeli fencing team for the Olympics. Kaplan earned his MBA degree from Oregon State University.

Kaplan's work has been highly praised, with his books topping bestseller charts around the world and being hailed as "a gold standard for thrillers." Recently, three of Amazon's top 20 thrillers at one time were Scorpion books: SCORPION BETRAYAL, SCORPION WINTER, and SCORPION DECEPTION. In addition to his spy thriller novels, Kaplan is also known for his film writing career, which includes the James Bond classic, GOLDENEYE. He has also authored the runaway international bestseller, HOMELAND: CARRIE'S RUN, an original prequel novel based on the award-winning hit television series, HOMELAND. His second HOMELAND novel, HOMELAND: SAUL'S GAME, won the 2015 Scribe Award for Best Tie-In Novel of the Year. His latest novel, BLUE MADAGASCAR, won the Global eBook Gold Award and the Chanticleer First Place Award for Best Global Thriller.
