Angela Kelly is a British fashion designer, dressmaker, and milliner best known for her role as Personal Assistant and Senior Dresser to Queen Elizabeth II from 2002 until the monarch's death in 2022. Her official title was Personal Assistant, Adviser and Curator to Her Majesty The Queen, overseeing jewelry, insignias, and wardrobe. Kelly authored two books detailing her work with the Queen: "Dressing the Queen: The Jubilee Wardrobe" and "The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe."
Born in Liverpool to a dock worker and a nurse, Kelly began her royal service in 1994 after being hired as the Queen's Dresser. She meticulously researched royal engagements to design outfits that balanced tradition with contemporary relevance, paying close attention to color symbolism and cultural context. Kelly co-founded the fashion label Kelly & Pordum with Alison Pordum, the Queen's former in-house dressmaker. Recognized for her contributions, she was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order in 2006 and promoted to Lieutenant of the same Order in 2012. She also received the Queen Elizabeth II Version of the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal in 2014.
