Angela Petch is a bestselling and award-winning author, known for her historical fiction novels and occasional poetry. Born in Germany to a British army father, Petch has spent her life traveling and collecting stories from various places she has lived, including Rome, Tanzania, and the Netherlands. She currently divides her time between Tuscany and West Sussex, England, with her Italian husband.
Petch's love for Italy began at the age of seven when she moved to Rome and continued to grow as she studied Italian at the University of Kent at Canterbury. She later worked in Sicily, where she met her husband. Her personal experiences in Italy inspired her to write "The Tuscan Secret," a novel about the courage of resistance fighters and the hospitality of Italian families during World War II. She has since published several other novels set in Italy, including "Now and then in Tuscany" (retitled "A Tuscan Memory") and "The Tuscan Girl," as well as a novella about two ladies living by the seaside in Sussex.
Petch has a passion for Italy and its history, which is reflected in her writing. She spends several months each year in the Italian Apennines, where she draws inspiration for her novels. Her research is aided by her kind Italian country friends who share their memories of World War II and the harsh times they endured in their childhoods. Petch is committed to giving back to the community and donates all profits from sales of her books to research into cancer, a cause close to her heart.
