Ann Hood

Ann Hood is a renowned author, born in West Warwick, Rhode Island. She completed her BA in English from the University of Rhode Island. Afterward, she pursued a career as a flight attendant for TWA, a now-defunct airline, which allowed her to live in various cities, including St. Louis, Boston, and New York City. Her experiences during these years would later inspire her to write about them in her memoir, "Fly Girl," which was published in May 2022.

Hood then attended New York University, studying American Literature in graduate school. She has since become a prolific writer, with over a dozen novels and several memoirs to her name. Her works include bestsellers such as "The Knitting Circle," "The Obituary Writer," "The Book That Matters Most," and "Somewhere Off the Coast of Maine." Hood has also published memoirs like "Kitchen Yarns: Notes on Life, Love and Food" and "Comfort: A Journey Through Grief," which was named one of the top ten books of 2008 by Entertainment Weekly.

Ann Hood is an accomplished and recognized writer, having received several prestigious awards for her work. These include two Pushcart Prizes, a Best American Spiritual Writing Award, a Best American Food Writing Award, and a Best American Travel Writing Award. Additionally, she was awarded the Paul Bowles Prize for Short Fiction. Hood demonstrates her versatility as a writer by exploring different themes and genres in her work.
