Anna-Marie McLemore

Anna-Marie McLemore is a prominent author of Mexican-American heritage. They were born in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and come from a Mexican-American family. Their work is deeply rooted in their cultural background, with stories that reflect the love for the tales they learned from their family. McLemore currently resides in Sacramento, Northern California.

McLemore is known for writing stories that are queer, Latine, and nonbinary, reflecting their own identity. They have written several acclaimed novels, including "The Weight of Feathers," which was a finalist for the William C. Morris Debut Award; "When the Moon Was Ours," a Stonewall Honor Book; "Wild Beauty," a Kirkus Best Book of 2017; "Blanca & Roja," a New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice; "Dark and Deepest Red," a Winter 2020 Indie Next List title; and "The Mirror Season," which was longlisted for the National Book Award. McLemore's latest novel, "Lakelore," was released in 2022 and is a Junior Library Guild Selection. Their adult debut, "The Influencers," is forthcoming from Dial Press in 2024. In addition to their novels, McLemore has also co-authored "Venom & Vow" with Elliott McLemore, which was released in May 2023 from Feiwel & Friends.
