Anne Glenconner

Lady Anne Glenconner, born Lady Anne Coke in 1932, is a British socialite, peeress, and author. She is the eldest daughter of the 5th Earl of Leicester and grew up in the family's ancestral estate at Holkham Hall in Norfolk. As a young woman, she served as a Maid of Honour at the Queen's Coronation.

In 1956, Lady Anne married Lord Glenconner, with whom she had five children, three of whom survive. The couple began transforming the island of Mustique into a paradise for the rich and famous in 1958, granting a plot of land to Princess Margaret, who built her favorite home there. Lady Anne's connection to the royal family grew stronger when she was appointed Lady in Waiting to Princess Margaret in 1971, a role she held until the Princess's death in 2002.

As Lady in Waiting, Lady Anne accompanied Princess Margaret on many state occasions and foreign tours. Her firsthand experiences with the Princess led her to write a memoir, published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2019, titled "Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown." She was prompted to write the book to set the record straight about Princess Margaret, who she felt had been unfairly portrayed in other accounts. Lady Anne now lives in Norfolk, England.
