Anthony J. Quinn is an accomplished Irish journalist and author, best known for his Inspector Celsius Daly crime mystery series. Quinn was born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and attended Queen's University, Belfast, where he studied English. After college, he held a variety of jobs, including yoga teacher, organic gardener, lecturer, and social worker, before finding his calling in journalism and writing. Despite being painfully shy as a child and requiring the help of a speech therapist to overcome his communication difficulties, Quinn had always had a passion for writing, having written several poems during his formative years.
Quinn's debut novel, "Disappeared," was published in 2012 and was met with widespread critical acclaim. The novel was shortlisted for the Strand Literary Award and received positive reviews from The Times Magazine, the Daily Mail, and Kirkus Reviews, among others. The series has been praised for its exploration of the destructive legacy of the troubled times in Northern Ireland, with Quinn's writing described as some of the best in the crime genre, a magnificent meditation, and an irresistible and hypnotically expressive take on the genre.
In addition to his work as a novelist, Quinn has also worked as a journalist and has had several short stories shortlisted for a Hennessy/New Irish Writing Award. He has received numerous accolades for his writing, including an ACES award for literature from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 2014 and being selected as the Northern Ireland Libraries Writer in Residence in 2016. Quinn is currently represented by Paul Feldstein of the Feldstein Agency.
