Barbara Monajem is an American author, best known for her fiction works that span various genres. From a young age, Monajem had a fascination with storytelling, having written her first story in third grade about apple tree gnomes. This early interest in creative writing was further fueled by her participation in neighborhood musicals and her experiences with teen melodrama.
As Monajem's children grew up, her writing evolved to focus on more mature themes and audiences. She began by publishing a middle-grade fantasy, and later transitioned to writing historical and paranormal romance and mystery novels for adults. Her works are known for their intrepid heroines, long-suffering heroes, and sometimes, a touch of magic. Monajem's Bayou Gavotte paranormal mysteries and Regency romances have won several awards, including the Holt Medallion, Maggie, Daphne du Maurier, Reviewer’s Choice and Epic awards.
In addition to her writing, Monajem has a variety of interests and hobbies. She enjoys cooking, particularly soups, and is an avid reader. Her bucket list includes making asparagus pudding and succeeding at knitting socks, though she admits that the latter may be a challenge. Monajem currently resides in Georgia, where she shares her home with an ever-changing group of relatives, friends, and feline strays.
