Barry Finlay is a successful Canadian author who has written both fiction and non-fiction books. Prior to his writing career, Finlay had a long and distinguished career in financial management, working for the Canadian federal government for over thirty years before retiring in 2004. Since then, he has kept himself busy with a variety of pursuits, including writing, consulting, travel, golf, and philanthropy.
Finlay's life took an unexpected turn in 2009 when he decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with his son, Chris. At the age of 60, Finlay found the experience to be incredibly rewarding, both personally and philanthropically. The pair raised funds to help children in Tanzania, and Finlay was inspired to write his first book, "Kilimanjaro and Beyond: A Life-Changing Journey," which was published in 2014. The book went on to win numerous awards, and Finlay was featured in the Authors Show book "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading" as a result.
Since then, Finlay has published a total of ten books, including the humorous travel memoir "I Guess We Missed The Boat," the five-book Marcie Kane Thriller Collection, and the two-book Jake Scott Mystery Series. Many of his books have received literary awards and achieved Amazon bestseller status. Finlay's writing is known for its socially relevant themes and engaging characters, and he has built a devoted following of readers around the world.
In addition to his writing career, Finlay is also an active philanthropist and has received numerous awards for his charitable work.
