Barry Lancet is an accomplished American author, best known for his work on the Jim Brodie Series. These international suspense novels follow the adventures of Jim Brodie, an American antiques dealer and part-time private investigator living in Tokyo. Lancet's own experiences in Japan have greatly influenced his writing, lending an authenticity to the series.
Lancet first became fascinated with Japan thirty years ago during a trip from California. He eventually moved there permanently and spent 25 years working for one of the country's largest publishers. During this time, he developed books on a wide range of Japanese subjects, from art to Zen, all of which were distributed in the United States, Europe, and the rest of the world. Lancet's editorial position at the publishing house allowed him access behind many closed doors and gave him a unique perspective on Japanese culture.
In addition to the Jim Brodie Series, Lancet has written about a variety of Japanese subjects, drawing on his extensive knowledge and experiences living in Japan. His work is highly regarded, with his first novel, JAPANTOWN, winning the Barry Award for Best First Novel and being selected as a Best Debut of the Year by Suspense Magazine. The second book in the series, TOKYO KILL, was a finalist for a Shamus Award for Best Novel of the Year. Lancet's connection with Japan began more than twenty-five years ago with a short exploratory trip from his California home to Tokyo, and he has been captivated by the country ever since.
