Betsy Brannon Green is a successful American author, well-known for her LDS-themed mystery and suspense novels. She was born in Salt Lake City, but as her father was in the military, she moved around frequently during her childhood. Green has lived in various cities such as Ft. Knox, Colorado Springs, Honolulu, and San Antonio, before finally settling in Decatur, Alabama. It was here that she met her husband, Robert Green, and got married in 1979. Green has always been passionate about writing, and she finally decided to write a novel seriously in the fall of 1999.
Green's first novel was rejected by all the publishers she approached, but she did not give up. Her second novel, "Hearts In Hiding," was accepted by Covenant Communications for publishing in 2001. Since then, she has written and published twenty-one books, including a couple of Christmas books. Many of her novels are set in the fictional town of Haggerty, Georgia, which is based on her grandparents' hometown of Headland, Alabama. Green's books are known for their ample supply of romance, suspense, Southern hospitality, and even recipes. Her novels have been finalists multiple times for the Whitney Award for best mystery/suspense novel and have been described as the "comfort food" of literature, with realistic dialogue, and a lack of sex and graphic violence. Green has been married to her husband, Robert Green, for 40 years, and they have eight children. They currently reside in Bessemer, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham.
