Betty Liu is a highly accomplished journalist, author, anchor, and executive. She was born in Hong Kong in 1973 and moved to the United States when she was three years old. Raised in Philadelphia from the age of twelve, she attended Central High School before graduating magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 with an English degree.
In her journalism career, Betty Liu is a news anchor for Bloomberg Television, a subsidiary of Bloomberg L.P., and a correspondent for ABC news. Her work as a journalist has established her as a respected figure in the industry.
In a different field, Betty Liu is also a cookbook author, photographer, and doctor. She has a passion for Chinese cooking and has made it her mission to demystify this cuisine in modern kitchens. Betty started writing about Chinese homecooking on her award-winning blog, Bettysliu.com, and found joy in making and documenting food. Her writing, photography, and recipes have been featured in various publications, including Bon Appétit, Epicurious, and The New York Times. Her critically acclaimed debut cookbook, "My Shanghai," was published in March 2021 and was praised as one of The New York Times Best Cookbooks of 2021. Betty is currently completing her surgical training in Boston, where she lives with her husband, Alexander Xu, and their dog, Annie.
