Bonnie Blaylock

Bonnie Blaylock is a literary fiction author hailing from the South East. She is best known for her debut novel, "Light to the Hills," which won the 2021 Porch Prize in fiction award. Bonny's love for writing and reading has been a lifelong passion, having been drawn to the written world from a very young age. She pursued her passion for writing by obtaining a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Tennessee. However, it was only after spending several years in unrelated careers, such as working for a software organization in sales support writing and for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in research and technical writing, that Bonnie finally decided to follow her muse.

In addition to her professional experience, Bonnie's personal life has been a rich source of inspiration for her writing. After co-owning a veterinary practice and raising two children, she spent many years traveling extensively and living on a few acres where she tended to bees, a garden, and various barnyard animals. These experiences, along with growing up in a large military family, have provided her with a wealth of material to draw from for her story ideas.

Bonnie writes historical fiction and women's fiction, having previously authored multiple tech/science articles in the realm of environmental science. She currently lives on a small farm near Nashville and is a member of the Historical Novel Society and the Women's National Book Association. Bonnie enjoys connecting with her readers and is always available for reader group chats. She welcomes readers to visit her website, bonnieblaylock.com, for more information about her and her work.
