Bonnie Macbird is a bestselling American author, known for her historical fiction, mystery, and thriller novels. Born and raised in San Francisco, she earned her bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in film from Stanford University. Macbird has enjoyed a successful career in the film industry, having worked as a feature film development executive at Universal for four years. She is also recognized for writing the screenplay of the critically acclaimed movie "TRON." In addition to her work in film, Macbird is an accomplished theater director, actor, and producer, with three Emmy Awards to her name.
Macbird made her fiction debut with "Art in the Blood," a novel published in 2015 that introduced her version of Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick, Dr. John Watson. The book, written in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle, was well-received by critics and became a commercial success, leading to its translation into over 17 languages worldwide. "Art in the Blood" was the first installment in Macbird's "Sherlock Holmes Adventures Series," followed by "Unquiet Spirits" in 2017 and "The Devil's Due" in 2019. Apart from her work as an author and film industry professional, Macbird is a talented watercolorist and a professor at UCLA Extension, where she teaches a screenwriting class and helps students develop creativity in specific screenwriting techniques. She is married to computer scientist Alan Kay and spends her time between London and Los Angeles.
