Brandon Sanderson is an acclaimed American author, born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1975. He is best known for his work in the fantasy and science fiction genres. Sanderson pursued a degree in biochemistry at Brigham Young University, but his passion for storytelling led him to take a break for mission work with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Sanderson's literary career took off while he was studying for his Master's degree at Brigham Young University, where he edited the Leading Edge magazine. His breakthrough came with the Mistborn series, which brought him significant recognition. Following the death of Robert Jordan, Sanderson was chosen to complete Jordan's renowned series, The Wheel of Time, using Jordan's notes.
In addition to Mistborn and The Wheel of Time, Sanderson writes the Alcatraz series and The Stormlight Archive, a 10-book series. He also teaches creative writing at Brigham Young University and resides in Utah with his family. Recently, he has been prolific in his releases, with several Secret Projects and the final volume of the Skyward series, Defiant, set to release in 2023. Sanderson's works are characterized by their depth, intricate plotlines, and imaginative world-building, making him a popular figure in modern fantasy and science fiction.
