Brenda Buchanan

Brenda Buchanan is an accomplished American author, renowned for her mystery novels. She is best known for her Joe Gale series, which has captivated readers with its intriguing plots and complex characters. Buchanan's interest in writing began at a young age, when she grew up reading newspapers in a mill town in Central Massachusetts. Her passion for journalism was ignited when she co-wrote a piece about the disparity in spending on boys and girls sports at her high school, which ruffled a few feathers and taught her an early lesson about the power of the press.

Buchanan's journalism career began in earnest when she worked for the Boston Globe as a reporter trainer and copyboy while studying at Northeastern University. She later became a reporter and columnist for the York County Coast Star in Maine, where she further honed her writing skills. Before long, Buchanan decided to pursue a legal career and attended law school at the University of Maine. However, her love for writing never waned, and she continued to write throughout her legal career.

Over the course of more than three decades in the law, Buchanan was fortunate enough to meet and work with many fascinating people. These individuals have since appeared in her novels as heroes and villains, lending a sense of realism to her writing. Despite her success in the legal field, Buchanan never abandoned her passion for writing, and she now works as a lawyer during the day and a writer at night. She currently resides in Portland, Maine, with her spouse, Diane Kenty. Buchanan's dedication to her craft and her commitment to creating compelling, thought-provoking mysteries have cemented her reputation as a skilled and talented author.
