Brendan Mathews

Brendan Mathews is a highly acclaimed author, best known for his works "The World of Tomorrow" and "This Is Not a Love Song." These novels were published by Little, Brown and Company, and have received numerous accolades. "The World of Tomorrow" was named an Honor Book by the Massachusetts Book Awards, longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, and chosen as an Editors' Choice by the New York Times Book Review. Additionally, "This Is Not a Love Song" was shortlisted for the Massachusetts Book Awards and the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing.

Mathews was born and raised in upstate New York, and received his education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia, where he earned his MFA. His writing has been featured in several prestigious publications, including The Best American Short Stories, Virginia Quarterly Review, Glimmer Train, and Cincinnati Review, among others in the US and UK.

In addition to his writing accomplishments, Mathews has also been the recipient of various fellowships and grants. These include awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Sustainable Arts Foundation, and the Sewanee Writers Conference. Furthermore, Mathews has had the privilege of teaching within the graduate creative program at the renowned University College Cork in Ireland as a Fulbright Scholar. Currently, he resides in Lenox, Massachusetts with his wife and their four children, and teaches at Bard College at Simon's Rock.
