Brian Catling

Brian Catling is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose creative output spans poetry, sculpture, performance art, and fiction. Born in London in 1948, he has gained recognition for his novels, including "The Vorrh," the first installment of a critically acclaimed fantasy trilogy that blends historical fiction with surrealist imagery. His written work often reflects the same imaginative depth and visual intensity found in his visual art.

As a professor of fine art at the University of Oxford's Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, Catling merges academic rigor with avant-garde creativity. His installations and performances have been commissioned internationally, with exhibitions in Spain, Japan, Iceland, and beyond. Known for his distinctive egg tempera portraits of Cyclops, his artistic practice informs his literary style, which is marked by rich symbolism and unconventional narrative structures.

Catling continues to expand his body of work, balancing his roles as an educator, visual artist, and novelist. His contributions to both contemporary art and speculative fiction have established him as a unique voice across multiple creative disciplines.
