Brian Christopher Shea is an American author, best known for his "Nick Lawrence" and "Rachel Hatch" series of novels. He has spent much of his life in service to his country and local community. After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy, Shea went on to work for over a decade in law enforcement, with stints in Connecticut and Texas, eventually rising to the rank of Detective. In addition to his service in the armed forces and law enforcement, Shea also spent five years as a fifth-grade school teacher.
Shea's love for books began at an early age, and he has cited "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton as the novel that first sparked his passion for reading. He has been particularly influenced by mystery and military fiction, citing authors such as James Patterson, Tom Clancy, Lee Child, Jeffrey Deaver, and David Baldacci as major inspirations. Despite his busy career as a detective, Shea was determined to become an author, and was encouraged in this pursuit by James Patterson. He published his debut novel, "Kill List," in 2018, and has since become a bestselling and award-winning author.
Shea uses his extensive experience in law enforcement, including his time working with SWAT and narcotics, to inform the settings, characters, and circumstances in his novels. He currently lives in New England with his wife and three children, and continues to write full-time. In addition to his "Nick Lawrence" and "Rachel Hatch" series, Shea has also written several standalone novels, and has plans to release more in the future. Through his writing, Shea has been able to bring his unique perspective and wealth of experience to life on the page, providing readers with thrilling and engaging stories.
