Brian Daley

Brian Daley was an American science fiction and fantasy author best known for his debut novel, "The Doomfarers of Coramonde," and its sequel, "The Starfollowers of Coramonde," both published under the Del Rey Books imprint. He gained further recognition for his contributions to the "Robotech" series, co-writing ten and a half novels under the shared pseudonym Jack McKinney. Daley also authored the Han Solo Adventures trilogy, a spin-off of the "Star Wars" franchise, which cemented his reputation for crafting adventurous, morally complex characters. His works spanned multiple genres, including military science fiction, space opera, and high fantasy.

Born in Englewood, New Jersey, Daley developed a passion for storytelling and science fiction at an early age. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he attended Jersey City State College, where he studied media while writing his first novel. His writing often featured roguish protagonists, a reflection of his own maverick spirit. Beyond novels, Daley adapted "The Return of the Jedi" for National Public Radio, completing the project while battling pancreatic cancer. He passed away in 1996, leaving behind a legacy of imaginative storytelling that resonated with readers worldwide. His final work, the four-volume GammaL.A.W. saga, was completed shortly before his death.
