Brian Lumley

Brian Lumley is a renowned English author, best known for his contributions to the horror and science fiction genres. He was born near Newcastle, and his interest in horror and science fiction was sparked at a young age. Lumley's first encounter with the macabre was through a short story by Robert Bloch in a British science fiction magazine, which inspired him to start writing his own stories.

Lumley's writing career took off after he retired from the military, having served as a Military Policeman for 22 years. During his time in the military, he served in various parts of the world, including Berlin and Cyprus, and reached the rank of Sergeant-Major. His experiences during his military service provided him with a wealth of material that would later inform his writing. After retiring, Lumley moved to Devon and began writing full-time, with his first work being published in 1970.

Lumley's most famous works include the "Necroscope" series, which has been translated into ten languages and sold over a million copies worldwide. The series, set in a world where psychic powers are a reality, has been praised for its unique take on the vampire mythos. Lumley's other notable works include the "Titus Crow" series, which is also part of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.

Lumley's contributions to the horror genre have been recognized with numerous awards, including the British Fantasy Award and the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement. He is also a Grand Master of Horror, a title given to him in recognition of his significant contributions to the genre.
