Brian McGilloway is an accomplished Irish novelist, known for his crime thriller novels. He was born in Derry, Northern Ireland and studied English at Queens University Belfast. While at the university, McGilloway was very active in student theatre and won the Irish Student Drama Association Award for theatrical lighting design in 1996.
McGilloway is currently the Head of English at St. Columb's College in Northern Ireland. He is best known for his Inspector Devlin and D.S. Lucy Black series. His debut novel, "Borderlands," was a crime thriller that was shortlisted for a Crime Writers' association Dagger Award for a debut novel in 2007. Following the success of "Borderlands," McGilloway signed a deal with Pan Macmillan to write three thrillers in his inspector Devlin series. His writing has been well-received, with "The Times" hailing his debut as "one of (2007's) most impressive debuts." The second and third novels in the Devlin series, "Gallows Lane" and "Bleed a River Deep," were also shortlisted for awards. Additionally, McGilloway has penned a series featuring D.S. Lucy Black, with the first novel, "Little Girl Lost," becoming an Amazon Kindle No 1 Bestseller in 2013 and a New York Times and USA Today bestseller in 2014. The fourth Lucy Black novel, "Bad Blood," will be released in May 2017.
