D.A. Mishani

D.A. Mishani is an Israeli crime writer and historian, born on June 23, 1975, in Holon, Israel. He is known for his expertise in the history of detective fiction, and his significant contributions to the field as an editor, writer, and literary scholar. Mishani currently resides in Tel Aviv with his wife and two children.

Mishani's crime writing debut was marked by the publication of his first detective novel, "The Missing File," in Hebrew in 2011. The novel, which is the first in a crime series featuring police inspector Avraham Avraham, quickly gained international recognition. Translation rights for "The Missing File" were sold to more than 10 territories, and the American edition of the novel was published by HarperCollins in April 2013. The novel was shortlisted for the CWA International Dagger award and the Grand Prix de Litterature policiere, and won the prestigious Martin Beck award for best crime novel translated to Swedish and the Grand Prix du meilleur polar de lecteurs des Points in France.

Mishani's success continued with the publication of the second novel in the series, "A Possibility of Violence," which won the prestigious Bernstein prize for best Israeli novel in 2014. The series, featuring police inspector Avraham Avraham, has been translated into more than 15 languages, showcasing Mishani's talent for storytelling and his deep understanding of the crime fiction genre. Mishani is also a teacher, and he shares his expertise in detective fiction and crime writing with students at Tel Aviv University.
