D.P. Lyle is an acclaimed American author, known for his works in the mystery, science fiction, and thriller genres. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Lyle attended college with a major in medicine and completed his internship at the University of Alabama and his residency at the University of Texas-Houston. He has been practicing cardiology in Orange County, California for over forty years.
As an author, Lyle has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Benjamin Franklin Silver Award and the Macavity Award. He has been nominated for several other literary awards such as the Agatha, Silver Falchion, Edgar, Best Book, Anthony, and the Scribe Awards. Lyle has written many nonfiction books and a number of fiction works, including the Samantha Cody, Jake Langly, and Dub Walker thriller novel series. He has also produced media tie-in books of Royal Pains and contributed to the anthology stories of ITW. His essay based on The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne is listed among the top 100 must-read thriller novels.
In addition to his solo works, Lyle has collaborated with many other novelists and has worked with the writers of popular television shows, such as CSI: Miami, Judging Amy, Law and Order, Cold Case, Diagnosis Murder, Peacemakers, Monk, House, 1-800 Missing, Medium, The Glades, and Pretty Little Liars. For the past 35 years, he has practiced Cardiology in Orange County, California. He is the co-host, along with Jan Burke, of Crime and Science Radio, a twice-monthly program on Suspense Radio.
