Daniel Glattauer

Daniel Glattauer, born in Vienna in 1960, is an Austrian author and journalist known for his contemporary fiction and bestselling novels. He gained international acclaim with his epistolary novels "Gut gegen Nordwind" (2006) and "Alle sieben Wellen" (2009), which were translated into numerous languages and adapted into audio plays, theater productions, and audiobooks. His diverse body of work also includes titles such as "Die Ameisenzählung" (2001), "Darum" (2003), and "Die Wunderübung" (2014), showcasing his versatility across genres.

Before dedicating himself to writing full-time, Glattauer studied pedagogy and worked as a journalist, spending two decades as a columnist for the Austrian newspaper "Der Standard." His collection "Mama, jetzt nicht!" (2011) compiles humorous columns reflecting everyday life, originally published in the newspaper. Glattauer's writing often explores interpersonal relationships with wit and emotional depth. In 2006, he was nominated for the prestigious German Book Prize, further cementing his literary reputation. He resides in Lower Austria's Waldviertel region with his family.
