Daniel Kehlmann

Daniel Kehlmann, a German-Austrian author, was born in Munich on January 13, 1975. He is the son of Dagmar Mettler, an actress, and Michael Kehlmann, a television director. When Kehlmann was six years old, his family moved to Vienna, his father's hometown. Both of Kehlmann's paternal grandparents were born Jewish, and his father was in a concentration camp during World War II.

Kehlmann has had a successful career as a writer, with his works receiving numerous awards and being translated into many languages. His novel "Measuring the World" (German: "Die Vermessung der Welt") has been translated into over forty languages and is considered one of the biggest successes in postwar German literature.
