Daniel V. Meier Jr.

Daniel V. Meier, Jr. is an author with a diverse literary career spanning mystery, thriller, historical fiction, and literary satire. Under the pen name Vince Daniels, he published a mystery/thriller with Leisure Books in 1980. His notable works include the award-winning historical fiction series "The Dung Beetles of Liberia", comprising "The Dung Beetles of Liberia" and "Blood Before Dawn," which explore Liberia's tumultuous history. He also authored "Bloodroot," a gripping survival tale set in Jamestown, Virginia, and "No Birds Sing Here," a work of literary satire. His latest aviation-inspired murder mystery, "Guidance to Death," marks the first installment in a new series.

Before dedicating himself to writing, Meier pursued a multifaceted career that deeply influenced his work. A retired FAA Aviation Safety Inspector, he drew from his expertise in aviation for technical writing and editing roles, including contributions to aviation magazines. He holds degrees in History from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and American Literature from the University of Maryland Graduate School. His professional background also includes journalism for the "Washington Business Journal", teaching English and History, and serving as a U.S. Navy veteran. These experiences lend authenticity to his richly detailed narratives.

Meier continues to write from his home in Owings, Maryland, where he lives with his wife. When not writing, he enjoys sailing the Chesapeake Bay. His works reflect a blend of meticulous research, firsthand experience, and a passion for storytelling across genres.
