Danny Ramadan

Danny Ramadan is a Syrian-Canadian author and advocate known for his contributions to LGBTQ+ literature and refugee support. His debut novel, "The Clothesline Swing," earned critical acclaim, including a Lambda Literary Award shortlisting and a Canada Reads longlisting, while being named a Best Book of the Year by the Globe and Mail and Toronto Star. His children's book, "Salma the Syrian Chef," received the Nautilus Book Award and the Middle East Book Award, alongside recognition from Kirkus and School Library Journal. Ramadan's forthcoming works include the novel "The Foghorn Echoes" and the memoir "Crooked Teeth," both set for publication by Penguin Random House.

Ramadan's writing often explores themes of displacement, identity, and queer experiences, drawing from his own background as a Syrian refugee. His essays and short stories have been featured in publications across North America and Europe, further establishing his voice in contemporary literature. Beyond his literary achievements, he has raised over $250,000 to support LGBTQ+ refugees, reflecting his commitment to advocacy. Ramadan holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and resides in Vancouver with his husband.
