Darynda Jones is a bestselling American author, well-known for her work in the genres of paranormal romance, thriller, and young adult novels. She has written several series, including the Charley Davidson series and the Darklight YA Trilogy. Jones was educated at the University of New Mexico, where she graduated with a sign language degree, one of her sons is deaf. She lives in New Mexico with her husband and two sons.
Jones has been a storyteller for as long as she can remember. As a child, she would scribble on a notepad and consider it a masterpiece. Her mother encouraged her to write, boosting her confidence and inspiring her to create sensible stories. She started writing plays for the kids in her neighborhood and helped her brother develop stories to play with cars. Her imagination led her to create a character named Captain Kirk for her brother, and she would daydream about fantastic stories for Barbie and Ken. In school, she often found herself daydreaming about novel characters and plot, leading her to finish her first manuscript in high school.
Jones has won numerous awards for her work, including a prestigious RITA, a Golden Heart, and a Daphne du Maurier. Her books have been translated into 17 languages, making her an international success. She is currently working on several projects, including the Sunshine Vicram Mystery Series with St. Martin's Press and the Betwixt and Between Series of paranormal women's fiction. Jones lives in New Mexico with her husband and two sons, who she affectionately refers to as the Mighty, Mighty Jones Boys.
