David B. Seaburn

David Seaburn is a retired therapist, ordained Presbyterian minister, and accomplished author known for his contemporary and literary fiction. His latest novel, "Until It Was Gone" (2024), was shortlisted for the Hawthorne Prize, following the critical success of "Give Me Shelter" (2022), which earned recognition in the Somerset Awards, Maxy Awards, and American Writing Awards. Seaburn has published nine novels to date, including "Broken Pieces of God" (2021), "Gavin Goode" (2019), and "Parrot Talk" (2017), exploring themes of human relationships, resilience, and introspection.

Before dedicating himself to fiction, Seaburn had a distinguished career in mental health and academia. He served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center for nearly two decades, where he specialized in family therapy and interdisciplinary healthcare collaboration. With a background that includes two master's degrees and a PhD, he authored over 65 professional papers and co-wrote two academic books. Seaburn also contributed creative nonfiction and essays, later transitioning to fiction in 2001. His writing reflects his deep understanding of psychology and spirituality, informed by his experiences as both a minister and therapist.

In addition to his novels, Seaburn has shared his insights through a Psychology Today blog titled "Going Out Not Knowing" and taught writing at Writers and Books in Rochester, NY. His works continue to resonate with readers for their emotional depth and exploration of life's complexities.
